- Olive Oil Cooking Spray: For grilling and sauteeing, an olive oil cooking spray is a must for cooking vegetables, meats, eggs, fish etc. It is low calorie and healthier than your average cooking sprays. Plus it is super easy to use and requires no clean up, unlike messy olive oil bottles.
- Peanut Butter: Whether you like it straight up, in baked goods, or in Asian inspired dishes, peanut butter is cheap, nutritious and versatile. Spread it, mix it, love it.
- Almonds: Almonds are a great healthy snack on their own, but can also be used in baked goods, sprinkles onto salads, sauteed with fish or vegetables, or as the star of a trail mix.
- Chocolate Chips: Be careful to not just eat them out of the bag by the handful, but chocolate chips can be used in various dessert dishes, added to mixes, mixed into oatmeal, or melted ready for fruit to be dipped into.
- Tortillas: Tortillas can be used to make wraps or quesadillas, but also can be toasted in the oven to make sweet or savory chips.
- Apple Sauce: Apple sauce is a great baking secret. Use it to keep muffins and breads moist, while cutting the oil and eliminating fat. Also apple sauce is an easy snack if mixed with some cinnamon or nutmeg.
- Pancake Mix: I am a staunch homemade believer, but pancake mix makes pancakes and waffles a cinch, but also creates delicious breads and biscuits.
- Dried Fruit: Add dried fruit to spice up salads, baked goods and trail mixes.
- Chickpeas: Throw some canned chickpeas onto a baking sheet and create a crispy snack! Or mix with tahini for some fresh hummus. Or just sprinkle on to your salads. Or... just eat them plain :)
- Baking Essentials : Flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and brown sugar should all be staples if you want to make cookies, muffins or any other delicious oven treat.
